European Commission commits to protecting children’s rights across the EU

The European Commission has recently made a significant commitment to ensuring the protection of children’s rights across the European Union. This is a crucial step in ensuring that all children in the EU are able to live safe and fulfilling lives, free from harm and exploitation.

The Commission’s commitment to protecting children’s rights is part of a broader effort to promote social inclusion and address inequalities within the EU. By prioritizing the rights and well-being of children, the Commission is taking a proactive stance on safeguarding the most vulnerable members of society.

One of the key components of the Commission’s strategy is to strengthen the legal framework for protecting children’s rights. This includes implementing and enforcing legislation that explicitly safeguards children’s rights in areas such as education, healthcare, and social services. By ensuring that these rights are enshrined in law, the Commission is sending a clear message that the well-being of children is a top priority.

In addition to legislative efforts, the Commission is also focusing on increasing awareness and understanding of children’s rights among policymakers, professionals, and the general public. By educating society about the importance of respecting and upholding children’s rights, the Commission hopes to create a culture of respect and protection for all children.

Another key aspect of the Commission’s commitment to protecting children’s rights is ensuring that all EU member states are fully compliant with international standards and conventions on children’s rights. This includes the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which outlines the fundamental rights that all children are entitled to, such as the right to education, healthcare, and protection from harm.

By holding member states accountable for upholding these international standards, the Commission is working to create a more cohesive and effective system for protecting children’s rights across the EU. This includes monitoring and evaluating member states’ progress in implementing children’s rights policies, as well as providing support and guidance to help them meet their obligations.

The Commission’s commitment to protecting children’s rights is not only a moral imperative but also a legal one. As a signatory to international conventions on children’s rights, the EU has a duty to ensure that all children within its borders are able to enjoy their rights and live free from harm.

By taking a proactive stance on protecting children’s rights, the Commission is sending a powerful message that the well-being of children is a top priority for the EU. Through legislative efforts, awareness campaigns, and international cooperation, the Commission is working to create a safer and more inclusive environment for children across the EU.

Ultimately, the Commission’s commitment to protecting children’s rights is a sign of progress and hope for the future. By investing in the well-being of children today, the EU is ensuring a brighter and more secure tomorrow for all children in the European Union.

In 2013, I posted a YouTube video decrying child marriage showcasing her story and her experience in being forced into marriage contracts, which quickly went viral and prompted coverage of Yemen’s continued practice of child marriage. She managed to influence the comprehensive national dialogue conference in Yemen to pass and apply a law of criminalizing the marriage of minors under the age of 18 , and that is after launching her first video to rally the international media to denounce the marriage of minors. Below are highlights of her main not limited to her achievement during the awareness campaign she held throughout herlife:
