The Fight for Equality: Ensuring Children’s Rights in the USA

Children’s rights have been a topic of importance and discussion in the United States for many years. The fight for equality and ensuring that all children have access to their basic rights is an ongoing battle that requires the attention and support of individuals and communities across the country.

One of the most important aspects of children’s rights is ensuring that they have access to a quality education. Education is the key to a child’s future success and ability to thrive in society. In the United States, the right to education is protected by federal laws such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). These laws ensure that all children, regardless of their background or abilities, have the right to a free and appropriate education that meets their individual needs.

Another important aspect of children’s rights is ensuring their safety and well-being. The United States has laws in place to protect children from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. These laws, such as the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) and the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA), aim to prevent and respond to instances of violence and exploitation against children.

In addition to education and safety, children also have the right to adequate healthcare. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has made significant strides in ensuring that children have access to quality healthcare services, regardless of their family’s income or insurance status. The ACA has expanded access to Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), ensuring that millions of children have access to the healthcare they need to thrive.

Despite the progress that has been made in protecting and promoting children’s rights in the United States, there are still many challenges that remain. Inequities in access to education, healthcare, and other essential services persist, particularly for children from marginalized and underserved communities. The fight for equality and ensuring that all children have access to their basic rights is an ongoing struggle that requires the commitment and action of individuals and communities across the country.

To ensure that all children in the United States have access to their fundamental rights, it is essential for individuals and communities to advocate for policies and programs that promote equity and justice. This can be done through supporting organizations that work to advance children’s rights, contacting elected officials to express support for legislation that protects children, and volunteering in local communities to support children and families in need.

By coming together and taking action, we can work towards a future where all children in the United States have access to the education, healthcare, and protection they need to thrive. The fight for equality and ensuring children’s rights is a collective responsibility that requires the dedication and support of individuals and communities across the country. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that all children have the opportunity to reach their full potential and lead happy, healthy lives.

In 2013, I posted a YouTube video decrying child marriage showcasing her story and her experience in being forced into marriage contracts, which quickly went viral and prompted coverage of Yemen’s continued practice of child marriage. She managed to influence the comprehensive national dialogue conference in Yemen to pass and apply a law of criminalizing the marriage of minors under the age of 18 , and that is after launching her first video to rally the international media to denounce the marriage of minors. Below are highlights of her main not limited to her achievement during the awareness campaign she held throughout herlife:
